Les journalistes, qui ont le sens de la formule, ont rapidement baptisé les péripéties judiciaires qui on suivi l’arrestation de Augusto Pinochet à Londres, “ l’affaire Pinochet ”. C’est au cours de cette “ affaire ” (qui se déroula du 16 octobre 1998 au 4 mars 2000, date du retour de Pinochet au Chili), que les Chiliens exilés à l’étranger apparurent sur la scène médiatique.
