Abstract
Radiomonde, le premier magazine canadien francophone à avoir traité de Radio, mais aussi de théâtre, est envisagé ici comme outil d’observation de la difficile constitution d’une identité culturelle canadienne française. Il fut en effet le lieu de diverses tensions, voire de contradictions entre une volonté de développer une culture spécifique et celle de se rattacher à une mère-patrie dont le modèle idéologique dominant s’était écarté du cléricalisme. Cette tension culmina au moment où, en pleine guerre, des comédiens français emmenés par Jouvet furent interdits de territoire québécois, non seulement parce qu’ils étaient envoyés par Vichy, mais parce qu’ils menaçaient l’emploi des comédiens locaux. Le magazine aura ainsi cristallisé une relation marquée à la fois par l’attirance et la répulsion.
