Abstract
À partir de la méthodologie ayant servi à produire des estimations de l'apport des entreprises au produit intérieur brut (PIB) américain en fonction de leur taille, les auteurs procèdent à l'estimation de l'apport des petites et moyennes entreprises au PIB comparativement à celui des grandes entreprises du secteur canadien des entreprises non agricoles en 2005. Relativement à l'ensemble du secteur des entreprises non agricoles, les petites et moyennes entreprises comptant moins de 500 employés représentent 54, 2 % du PIB au Canada et 50, 7 % du PIB aux États-Unis. Lorsque l'on exclut deux industries où les administrations publiques occupent une place importante au Canada (la santé et l'éducation), ces proportions s'établissent respectivement à 52, 9 % et à 50, 3 %.
