L’article porte un regard critique et sociohistorique sur la récente réforme de la formation initiale des enseignants québecois. Il présente d’abord le contexte sociopolitique et les origines de la réforme du système scolaire au cours des années 1960. Suit un aperçu de la structure du système scolaire au Québec. Une attention particulière est portée au fonctionnement général des commissions scolaires. Puis sont successivement abordées les deux dernières réformes de la formation initiale des enseignants, celle de 1994 et celle de 2001, avec leurs deux principales orientations : la professionnalisation du corps enseignant et le recours à l’approche par compétences. Les transformations en profondeur de la formation initiale des enseignants, qui sont l’objet de plusieurs enjeux et d’influences diverses, sont lourdes de conséquences dont il faudra évaluer les aspects positifs comme négatifs.
