Abstract
Cet article explique comment l’enquête sur la formation des restaurateurs commandée par l’Office international des Musées (OIM) en 1932 a finalement conduit en 1981 le Comité pour la Conservation du Comité international des Musées (ICOM-CC) à reconnaître la profession de conservateur-restaurateur. Il montre que la réglementation de la profession en Europe est l’aboutissement d’un processus amorcé il y a près d’un siècle. Il comble ainsi une lacune historiographique et revient sur la question de la protection du titre des praticiens, toujours en suspens.
