Abstract
Alors que les romans du cycle Soifs de Marie-Claire Blais multiplient les échos à des événements actuels, il s’agira d’analyser en quoi le présent d’énonciation fait l’objet d’un « double endettement ». Ainsi, cet article se propose d’analyser, dans un premier temps, la polyphonie propre aux romans du cycle à partir de la notion de « pluralité », repérable avant tout en puissance, avant de s’attarder au motif de la Loi qui, par sa position stratégique au sein du cycle, permet d’articuler une vision de l’histoire comme délai et de faire entendre l’urgence d’un appel à son interruption. Dès lors, la « mémoire du présent » que le cycle Soifs met en oeuvre, avec sa constante intrication des différentes modalités du temps, cerne une capacité à recevoir l’actualité des événements à partir des exigences léguées par ce qui n’a toujours pas trouvé sa résolution.
