El general en su laberinto (1989) de Gabriel Garcia Marquez ha recibido una amplia atencion critica. Los diversos estudios han senala- do, sin ofrecer mayores detalles, la dimension quijotesca del Bolivar de Garcia Marquez. Sin embargo, no se ha estudiado el alcance de la reescritura del Quijote presente en la novela. La obra es una parodia, una reescritura con distancia critica, en la que el personaje de Bolivar sigue un transcurso que, si bien se apoya en numerosas fuentes historiograficas, tal como lo senala el autor en el epilogo, tambien esta orientado por la trayectoria del Quijote de la segunda salida. Propongo dilucidar la escritura de un Bolivar quijotesco que le permite al autor desmitificar la figura fundacional, desdibujar los limites entre ficcion e historia, subrayar el papel de la imaginacion en la construccion del mito y criticar el papel de las historiografias nacionales.
