In this thesis, I propose a novel routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks, the Dynamic Managing Location Information Scheme (DULIS), which can be used in ad hoc networks with a frequently changing topology. The DULIS enables efficient management of the location information and reduces the overhead traffic caused by the periodic location information querying, updating and propagation of existing protocols. Based on DULIS, the new routing protocol is different from traditional Proactive and Reactive routing protocols. Simulation experiments were conducted using OPNET 9.0 to determine the performance difference under different scenarios between DULIS and the following protocols: The Dynamic Source Routing Protocol (DSR) and a location-aided routing protocol based on the "Quorum" scheme.
