Abstract
L’analyse comparative de l’évolution des économies domestiques en Suisse et au Québec bouscule les a priori concernant le caractère favorable aux femmes des politiques d’égalité des sexes. Sur le marché du travail, les politiques mises en place au Québec favorisent l’accès des femmes à des salaires plus égalitaires. Cependant au sein des familles, leur influence sur les règles de répartition des dépenses et des revenus peut conduire ces femmes à être dans des situations économiques plus défavorables que les Suissesses qui pourtant vivent dans un État moins propice à l’égalité. Si les politiques égalitaires sont bénéfiques pour les femmes adoptant le modèle masculin du citoyen individualiste et producteur qu’elles soutiennent implicitement, elles semblent pénaliser celles qui font un autre choix de vie.
