Abstract
<titre>Résumé</titre>Cet article postule une cohérence sous la diversité des nouvelles canadiennes entre 1980 et 2000 et propose une double problématique sous forme d’anagramme : l’image et la magie. La nouvelle canadienne est hybride et iconique, elle s’appuie sur l’étoffement de l’image pour étayer la crédibilité du récit et conjugue la magie sur le mode néo-fantastique ou néo-gothique et la réécriture du mythe primitif. De la Colombie Britannique aux Provinces Maritimes, d’un océan à l’autre, elle utilise la magie de la représentation et la représentation de la magie pour pallier l’absence et saturer par l’écriture le vide de ses espaces infinis.
