Abstract
En Tunisie, les mères célibataires ont conscience, dès l’instant où elles décident d’assumer l’existence de leur enfant, qu’elles vont vivre hors des normes sociales de maternité. À la lumière de ses investigations de terrain, l’auteure propose de décrypter le contexte dans lequel la construction sociale du lien mère-enfant se dessine. Bien loin de l’évidence biologique, l’appropriation du rôle de mère passe par une reconnaissance politique mais aussi sociale. Au-delà des règles implicites et explicites de la filiation, des stratégies de la parentalité peuvent être mises à jour dans un contexte de forte stigmatisation sociale de ces mères célibataires, allant du déni total de leur maternité à des tentatives de « normification ».
