Este texto introduz o tema das representações empreendedoras e propõe perspectivas de pesquisa úteis para aprofundar a geração de conhecimentos no campo de estudo do empreendedorismo. Ele começa sugerindo que o estudo das representações oferece uma perspectiva diferente a partir da qual se pode examinar e entender os atos empreendedores, baseados no conhecimento desenvolvido no processo de pensamento prévio. Mais adiante, discute uma cultura de pesquisa sobre as representações que abriga diferentes linguagens para tratar delas e propõe algumas vias para novas pesquisas sobre as representações empreendedoras, ao longo das quais alguns tópicos específicos são explorados. O tema clássico da identificação de oportunidades é abordado. O texto termina destacando a necessidade de novas abordagens e métodos de pesquisa sobre as representações relativas ao empreendedorismo e à inovação.
