Abstract
Au XVIIe siècle, la colère du roi sert à réaffirmer l’éclat de sa puissance et de sa grandeur. Sachant que le roi est particulièrement jaloux de l’exécution de ses édits contre les duels et que les contrevenants ont tout à craindre de sa colère, quels sont les enjeux liés à la pratique du duel, du moins tels qu’ils se dessinent dans les nouvelles parues entre 1660 et 1690 ? Deux cas de figure ont retenu notre attention : le duel nobiliaire, qui relève de la logique du point d’honneur, et le duel galant, qui s’inscrit dans la logique du service amoureux.
