Cet article aborde la notion de « dispositif » dans le documentaire brésilien contemporain, à partir de la conception classique du dispositif élaborée dans la théorie du cinéma et des contributions plus récentes des domaines de l’art et du documentaire à cette réflexion. Pour les réalisateurs dont il est question ici, il s’agit de construire certaines stratégies de tournage dont la fonction n’est plus de refléter une réalité préexistante mais, au contraire, de susciter des événements qui seront capturés par la caméra. Le texte analyse plus longuement deux films réalisés par Cao Guimarães, artiste qui articule de façon originale des stratégies tirées des pratiques artistiques contemporaines à des procédés chers à la tradition du documentaire.
