Abstract
Le maintien en activité des femmes ne dépend pas seulement des charges familiales. D'autres éléments interviennent : le niveau de formation, la profession du conjoint, les projets de couple, les revenus du ménage. L'exercice d'une activité suppose que les contraintes professionnelles et les exigences familiales soient compatibles. L'auteure examine l'utilisation des possibilités d'aménagement du temps de travail en fonction de la catégorie socioprofessionnelle de la mère. Des données françaises récentes permettent d'identifier les professions où les femmes interrompent le moins leur activité. L'auteure analyse si ces professions permettent des horaires et une organisation du travail mieux adaptés aux charges familiales, ou si les mères exerçant ces professions disposent de possibilités plus nombreuses pour remplacer la garde maternelle et les aider dans leurs tâches domestiques.
