Abstract
Cet article présente, à partir d’une réflexion sur l’espace interculturel en contexte québécois, une analyse des médiations interlinguistiques, des échanges et des rapports sociaux qui s’y développent ainsi que des spécificités reliées à la société québécoise, minorité francophone en Amérique du Nord. En illustrant la réflexion par la présentation d’un programme de maîtrise en médiation interculturelle développé à l’Université de Sherbrooke, l’auteure vérifie l’hypothèse selon laquelle le développement contemporain du champ de l’interculturel prend peu en compte, voire occulte les questions linguistiques. Les fondements et outils pédagogiques de ce programme sont analysés et des incidents critiques relevant de questions linguistiques sont présentés pour mieux saisir comment les médiations interculturelles sont aujourd’hui définies, conceptualisées et balisées par les contextes sociétaux dans lesquels elles se développent. Ainsi, grâce à une analyse réflexive, un regard critique est porté sur la formation interculturelle en milieu universitaire.
