Le texte littéraire est un milieu dans lequel différentes relations intermédiales peuvent prendre forme. En empruntant la notion de remédiation à Bolter et Grusin et en la déplaçant des technologies numériques vers le roman, cet article définit, dans un premier temps, trois procédés par lesquels le texte peut convoquer des modes appartenant conventionnellement à d’autres formes de médiation. Les points de rupture que ces procédés impliquent sont ensuite abordés à partir de théories de la lecture, pour justifier l’hypothèse selon laquelle un roman ayant une forte dynamique intermédiale peut accroître le degré d’activité du lecteur. Le roman Océan mer sert de terrain d’analyse pour expliciter le dynamisme des interactions qui caractérisent une telle production intermédiale.
