Abstract
Cet article propose une analyse de l’expérience de la perte d’emploi chez un groupe de travailleurs seniors. Les données de 105 entretiens semi-directifs réalisés au Québec ont permis de reconstituer qualitativement quatre récits qui s’étalent sur un continuum d’expériences, allant de la crise identitaire à la réflexion sur l’avenir. Ces récits sont des illustrations de la façon très diverse dont le chômage est vécu et signifié à cette étape de la vie professionnelle et des variables qui concourent à cette diversité. De façon complémentaire, les données ont également permis d’observer un lien statistique entre la signification de la perte d’emploi et les circonstances entourant cet événement.
