Abstract
Cet article veut montrer que l'internationalisation de la production largement due aux firmes multinationales, puis la transnationalisation des circuits monétaires et financiers réalisée par les banques multinationales ont remis fondamentalement en cause le cadre analytique traditionnel de l'économie internationale néo-classique. Le décalage de plus en plus marqué entre l'espace politique (la nation) et l'espace économique implique que le statut de l'État nation doive être totalement révisé. La puissance croissante des FMN et des BMN ne signifie pas cependant l'effacement des États nations mais la transformation discrète de leur nature : l'État territoire succède à l'État nation. La formation d'un système économique mondial se réalise au-delà des États et au-delà des agents multinationaux.
