Une intuition et une volonté. C’est ainsi que nous nous sommes saisis du développement durable. Une intuition, car il nous est apparu que l’arrivée massive dans le champ de la société de cette approche allait interroger les fondements et les pratiques de l’éducation à l’environnement : il nous fallait être présents. Une volonté, car ce concept contestable se prêtait à un des fondamentaux de nos pratiques : l’analyse critique. Celle-ci se retrouve également au coeur d’une dynamique d’éducation à l’environnement, comme une éducation au politique. Dans ce cadre, nos réflexions éducatives nous ont amenés à explorer les déclinaisons possibles pour développer un agir politique émancipateur. S’émanciper, c’est aussi aller vers un état d’humanité plus accompli. Cette ambition et la conscience d’en être aux balbutiements d’une histoire humaine porteuse d’espérance nous ont conduits à porter un regard critique sur l’hégémonie de la culture du résultat et du principe d’efficacité. Poussée par la nécessité d’affronter les changements culturels que supposent ces manières d’interroger le monde, l’éducation apparaît comme une voie régénératrice. Nos postures d’éducatrices et d’éducateurs à l’environnement en sont-elles modifiées? Nous le croyons. Aussi, nous avons cherché à ouvrir des pistes afin de les partager avec celles et ceux qui s’interrogent sur leurs pratiques.
