Abstract
Dans plusieurs de ses récits, Michael Delisle présente un univers où l’enfant est maltraité, battu et où son futur est avorté. S’il est possible de lire les scènes de cette enfance bafouée comme constitutives d’une fondation de la modernité québécoise, il est important de comprendre que Delisle ne tente pas simplement de nous donner un regard sur l’Histoire du Québec. C’est alors la question de l’anachronisme, du non-historique, d’une marge à l’intérieur même de la société du progrès que Delisle offre au lecteur-spectateur. En ce sens, les textes de Delisle participent d’une esthétique du laid où le lecteur reste sidéré par le récit, arrêté devant celui-ci, comme on le serait devant une image photographique.
