Abstract
This report summarizes results from the 2013 Road Safety Monitor (RSM), an annual public opinion poll of Canadians, on drugs and driving in Canada. The 2013 RSM was completed by 1,201 Canadians and was sponsored by Beer Canada, the Toyota Canada Foundation and Aviva Canada. This report includes a background section and a results section. The background section looks at tests to detect drugs in drivers, the prevalence of drug-impaired driving, affect of various drugs, legislation and penalties for drug-impaired driving, and steps to reduce drug-impaired driving. The results section includes percentage of Canadians concerned about impaired driving, percentage of drivers engaging in impaired-driving by drug and gender, and trends in drug-impaired driving.
