1Ce volume reprend les communications présentées lors du Séminaire des jeunes dixhuitièmistes qui s'est tenu à Gênes en 2005 sous le patronage de la Société Internationale d'Études du Dix-Huitième Siècle (SIEDS).Les textes rassemblés ici sont en français (5), en anglais (7), et en italien (1). 2L'ouvrage entend être une contribution au « débat sur l'identité européenne » et cherche à « examiner la dimension culturelle de l'intégration actuelle du Vieux Continent ».Vu sous cet angle, le volume n'échappe peut-être pas complètement à une vision téléologique de l'idée d'Europe avec pour point de mire l'Union européenne telle qu'elle existe en ce début de XXI e siècle.
