La mondialisation des échanges prédominant à travers la culture de consommation et les technologies de l’information, les jeunes sont continuellement mis en contact avec diverses pratiques culturelles via les médias. Bien que l’accès à des œuvres d’art diversifiées soit ainsi facilité, assure-t-il une véritable démocratisation de la culture artistique ? Dans ce foisonnement, quelles cultures doit-on privilégier ? L’article analyse les récentes politiques québécoises en matière d’éducation artistique et leur mise en œuvre, ainsi que leur impact sur l’enseignement des arts et l’intégration de la culture dans la vie des jeunes. Il examine l’adéquation entre ces politiques et les transformations majeures récentes dans les diverses formes de culture, puis propose quelques stratégies pour baliser ce foisonnement et ouvrir vers une démocratie culturelle passant par une éducation artistique rénovée.
