Notre étude cherche à analyser la pratique d'une enseignante sous l'angle de comment elle perçoit sa pratique habituelle des mathématiques et ce qu'elle fait pour faire participer les élèves en classe. En ce sens, nous avons suivi une classe de 5e année (23 élèves entre 10 et 11 ans) et son enseignante au Québec/Canada pendant une séquence d'enseignement portant sur la compréhension des relations de comparaison (6 séances). Ces observations ont été complétées par 5 entrevues semi-dirigées avec l'enseignante et par les activités données aux élèves en classe (5 scénarios). Pour atteindre l'objectif annoncé, dans cet article, nous analyserons plus précisément les entrevues faites avec l'enseignante. Les analyses faites permettent de mettre en évidence certains aspects (choix) de la pratique d'enseignement qui cherchent à favoriser la participation des élèves en classe. Ses choix portent sur une approche par le jeu, une introduction plus graduelle des concepts qui favoriserait une meilleure compréhension chez les élèves ainsi que l'importance du travail en équipe.
