Abstract
A liderança é uma atividade da vida moderna. Não há como negar o papel do líder na tomada rápida de decisões, coordenação de equipes e atividades e resolução de problemas. O setor de manutenção demanda decisões rápidas e concisas e, eventualmente, emergenciais. Isso posto, pergunta-se qual seria o perfil básico para o líder do setor de manutenção, tendo em vista os aspectos da manutenção e liderança. O propósito foi estudar a bibliografia e corroborar com a experiência prática de modo a propor um modelo de perfil básico geral. Para isso, o presente artigo passa por uma pesquisa bibliográfica que busca levantar as características do departamento de manutenção, os requisitos para que uma pessoa possa exercer com propriedade algum cargo de liderança e as peculiaridades da liderança na manutenção, além de se valer da experiência prática do autor. As principais caracte-rísticas propostas para o perfil do líder da manutenção e que devem ser inerentes ou desenvolvidas por este líder são: (1) competência técnica; (2) competência administrativa, e; (3) experiência. A maneira como esse líder deve lidar com as pressões exercidas pela administração e pela produção da empresa em seu setor, as dificuldades no gerenciamento de recursos e as habilidades necessárias para tal gerenciamento estão contidas no perfil sugerido.Palavras-chave: Competência.
