La production de toxines telles que la microcystine (MC) est le principal problème de santé publique relié à la croissance excessive des cyanobactéries dans les lacs eutrophes. La toxicité résultante sera reliée à la dominance de genres potentiellement toxiques au sein de la communauté. Dans le cadre de cette étude, cinq lacs du bassin versant de la rivière Yamaska (Québec) ont été échantillonnés durant l'été 2007. Les cyanobactéries ont été caractérisées sur un gel contenant un gradient de dénaturant (DGGE) à la suite de l'amplification du gène 16S du ribosome. De plus, un dénombrement microscopique classique a été entrepris. Les toxines ont aussi été dosées de deux façons, soit une méthode immuno-enzymatique et une autre basée sur la chromatographie liquide. Les résultats confirment l'association des genres potentiellement toxiques à la concentration de MC, en particulier Anabaena. Ces corrélations sont meilleures lorsqu'entreprises à partir des données taxonomiques, avec un r2 aj. atteignant 0,64 (p<0,0001). Les données DGGE, moins adaptées à la détermination d'un modèle prédictif de MC, expliquent néanmoins une partie de la variation lorsque celle-ci est partitionnée dans une analyse de redondance. De plus, les analyses moléculaires étaient plus sensibles aux changements dans la communauté. La vitesse de changement telle que déterminée par DGGE était corrélée à celle déterminée par la taxonomie sur l'échantillon pris deux semaines plus tard (n=22, r2 adj. = 0.32, p=0.004). Ceci pourrait conférer au DGGE une valeur prédictive intéressante puisque la dynamique des communautés a montré une association entre stabilité et toxicité dans deux des cinq lacs. Cette stabilité, exprimée sous forme de taux de changement, est associée aux températures les plus élevées de la saison (r2 aj. = 0,21 pour le DGGE et 0,28 pour la taxonomie, p<0,005). \n______________________________________________________________________________ \nMOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : cyanobactéries toxiques, succession saisonnière, Haute-Yamaska, Microcystis, DGGE
