Abstract
Time and speed are two concerns that have not ceased to occupy the mind of Man. Information and communication technologies (ICT) are precisely at the heart of these fundamental questions. On the one hand, they allow the completion of activities that were not possible previously (networking, distance exchange in differed and real time, for example), while, on the other hand, they contribute to an acceleration of our pace of life and to an intensification of work. Manipulation of time took a specific turn from the 18th Century in the wake of the development of increasingly precise and complex measuring instruments. In the context of globalization and competition that exists everywhere, flexibility, response time and quickness of operations become important economic and strategic issues. The hunt for lost time, dead time, is open. Moreover, all social activities are now subject to this “chrono syndrome” , and many individuals become “time sick”.
