Le présent article porte sur l’usage de l’interview dans le documentaire brésilien du tournant du siècle, dans un contexte élargi incluant la pratique du journalisme télévisuel, mais aussi du langage audiovisuel, tel qu’on peut l’observer dans le champ de l’art contemporain. Il analyse l’acte de poser des questions dans trois expériences : l’émission de télévisionAbertura(1979-1980), créée par le cinéaste Glauber Rocha 2 , l’oeuvre cinématographique du metteur en scène Eduardo Coutinho 3 et le filmRua de Mão Dupla, réalisé par Cao Guimarães 4 . Inspirées de l’analyse d’Elias Canetti sur la question en tant qu’instrument de pouvoir, les réflexions de l’auteure prennent en compte les échanges et passages entre ces pratiques : tandis que Rocha développe à la télévision les principes esthético-politiques à la base de son oeuvre cinématographique, Eduardo Coutinho s’inspire à son tour de la télévision pour construire sa carrière de documentariste au cinéma. Pour sa part, l’oeuvre vidéographique de Cao Guimarães, bâtie dans le contexte de l’art contemporain, peut être vue aussi bien dans les musées que dans les salles de cinéma.
