Abstract
La massification de la consommation de tenues sportives s’explique par des transformations structurelles. En effet, la place du spectacle sportif dans les médias, la survalorisation de l’héroïsme sportif, l’emprise du marketing et diverses mutations sociales s’épaulent pour faire de la culture sportive une culture prisée des adolescents. L’usage du paraître sportif par cette population essentiellement masculine, exprime une volonté de s’approprier symboliquement la ville. Souvent exclus des logements et des activités culturelles et marchandes du centre, les groupes d’adolescents étudiés (à Strasbourg, France) utilisent le paraître sportif et son cortège de marques jugées prestigieuses pour investir l’espace citadin, mettre en scène une identité positive, afficher les signes de la virilité, constituer des réseaux et exister dans le regard des passants.Arborer exclusivement des tenues sportives pour flâner n’est pas seulement le signe d’une soumission au marketing des offreurs, c’est aussi, à travers des composantes matérielles, revendiquer une existence dans la ville.
