RésuméTandis que la première partie de cet article examinait la question de la propriété de la terre indépendamment de la royauté, cette deuxième partie envisage les conséquences de l’institution royale sur la propriété, l’Afrique précoloniale restant toujours l’exemple de référence. La première est l’apparition de domaines royaux qui, bien que constitués sur la base de la conception traditionnelle de la propriété africaine, en modifie considérablement la teneur du régime foncier. La seconde est la superposition sur la même terre de droits fonciers et de droits fiscaux. La confusion entre les uns et les autres a conduit à une interprétation aberrante en termes de « féodalité », dont la critique constitue le cœur de l’article. Celui-ci se termine en évoquant les causes possibles de transformation du régime de propriété foncière.
