Abstract

Cet article propose de mobiliser les théories de la gouvernance pour étudier le processus décisionnel des exploitants agricoles. Bien que cette approche ait été plus couramment appliquée au cas des grandes entreprises, elle est transposée ici de manière originale au cas des exploitations agricoles. L’analyse permet d’identifier les acteurs, mécanismes et leviers d’action constituant les systèmes de gouvernance des exploitations laitières françaises. Les résultats démontrent que pour la gestion de ces exploitations, tout comme dans les grandes entreprises, les acteurs établissent des mécanismes dont l’objectif est de discipliner les dirigeants, d’augmenter leurs compétences, ou de faciliter le fonctionnement de l’entreprise. Ce jeu d’acteurs délimite la latitude décisionnelle à l’intérieur de laquelle le dirigeant fait ses choix stratégiques.
