Abstract The antenna compact ranges is a powerful tool employed to measure the performance of antennas accurately, efficiently, and with minimal facility investment. The term “compact” comes from the concept that an antenna can be measured without using a long outdoor range; hence the range is compact or small. The performance of these ranges has improved dramatically since the mid‐1970s and range designs have improved almost as rapidly as the modeling tools to design antennas since the reflector and feed designs are tied to many of the developments in high‐performance antennas.
