Abstract
Le présent document se penche sur les liens possibles entre l’approche par les capabilités et la perspective du parcours de vie, dans le domaine de la politique sociale, dans l’optique des concepts clés qui sont au centre des deux cadres d’intervention, à savoir l’action individuelle, la multidimensionnalité et la longitudinalité. Il explore ensuite comment la perspective du parcours de vie peut permettre d’aborder deux des principaux défis analytiques qui sont associés à l’introduction de l’approche par les capabilités dans la politique sociale : la multidimensionnalité et la longitudinalité. Pour ce faire, on procède à trois niveaux clés de la politique sociale : le niveau conceptuel, la gestion des données probantes et l’évaluation de l’efficacité des programmes et des politiques. Le document met en lumière la contribution potentielle de la perspective du parcours de vie à la détermination de la causalité en utilisant le cadre élaboré par Bernard (1993), en particulier sa contribution quand on aborde la causalité dans le contexte de la multidimensionnalité et de la longitudinalité.
