Abstract
Indiscutiblemente al tratar lo relacionado con la Gripe aviar nunca se pueden dejar de lado a las aves migratorias porque en lo relacionado con esta zoonosis son actores de primer orden. Se cree que la migracion se inicio en las glaciaciones de la era cuaternaria, en ese entonces el hielo cubria gran parte de todos los continentes, cuando vino el deshielo se movilizaron hacia el norte de donde se ven forzadas a migrar cada invierno; se calcula que anualmente se desplazan desde el Artico a diferentes zonas de Europa, Asia, Africa, Norte, Centro, Sur America y Canada, entre 500 a 1.000 millones de aves de muy diferentes especies. La migracion anual de aves es un fenomeno principalmente, aunque no enteramente, del hemisferio norte. En el hemisferio sur, la migracion estacional tiende a ser menos evidente. De las 10.000 especies de aves que se estima existen en el mundo, se calcula que el 50 por ciento migra.
