Abstract
"La Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (ELA) es una enfermedad degenerativa fatal, que comporta una pérdida progresiva de funcionalidad física y conduce a la muerte en el curso de pocos años luego de su aparición. Al día de hoy no existe una cura. Sin embargo, los niveles de calidad de vida y de bienestar psicológico no resultan siempre correlativos a la enfermedad. Aún cuando trabajos precedentes han estudiado la calidad de vida en la ELA, pocos han explorado la capacidad de resiliencia. Veinticinco sujetos afectados por ELA completaron el McGill Quality of Life Questionnaire, la Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale y la Resilience Scale for Adults. Los resultados indican niveles de resiliencia ligeramente por debajo de la media normativa. La capacidad de resiliencia tiene diversas correlaciones con elementos del bienestar psicológico y está negativamente asociada con la ansiedad y la depresión. Frente a la gravedad de la enfermedad, es posible recurrir a factores protectores, ya sean individuales o sociales, para reducir el impacto y mantener un elevado nivel de bienestar psicológico."
