En el contexto de lo que en la literatura hispanoamericana se conoce co mo 'la novelistica del dictador,' Maten al leon , del escritor mexicano Jorge Ibarguengoitia, se significa por ser la unica que reelabora dicho asunto con tintes mas bien carnavalescos, propios de vodevil. El objeto de la novela:matar al presidente-dictador de la Isla de Arepa cuando este se propone institucionalizar su regimen dandole tintes democraticos.
