Abstract
La edad de la ignorancia cierra la trilogia que el cineasta canadiense Denys Arcand inicio con El declive del imperio americano (1986) y que continuo con Las invasiones barbaras (2003). Arcand mantiene en todas ellas un proposito que unifica su obra: mostrarnos su vision particular, con su habitual tono ironico y mordaz, de todos aquellos temas que necrosan, que patologizan y que vuelven distopicas nuestras sociedades liberales e ilustradas. Frente al positivismo que marca nuestros logros sociales, Arcand se ocupa de retratar esas distopias en las que nos encontramos inmersos desde su Quebec natal que utiliza como metafora y microcosmos de la humanidad entera.
