Abstract
Abstract Phoebe Worrall Palmer was born in New York on December 18, 1807. She died in New York on November 2, 1874. She was one of the most popular Methodist speakers of the 19th century. She was the daughter of one of John Wesley's converts and spent her life in proclaiming the message of holiness lifted up by John and Charles Wesley and the early Methodists. She spoke in revivals and camp meetings across the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. Her writings and teachings became influential in both Methodist and Holiness–Pentecostal circles, becoming a primary influence in the development of the Church of the Nazarene, the Free Methodist Church, the Salvation Army, and the Wesleyan churches, as well as a large influence on the smaller holiness churches and the newer traditional Pentecostals such as the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) and the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.
