Abstract
Au moyen d'outils démographiques simples, comme des sommes de taux de seconde catégorie, ce texte décrit comment les jeunes du Québec atteignent et franchissent les principales étapes du cherninement scolaire. Après avoir présenté une vue d'ensemble pour 1996-1997 et situé le Québec par rapport aux principaux pays de l'OCDE, l'auteur décrit de façon plus détaillée la situation en ce qui concerne l'obtention d'un diplôme du secondaire, la poursuite des études au secteur des adultes, la formation professionnelle et l'enseignement collégial et universitaire. Enfin, il donne le portrait des disparités dans la scolarisation des hommes et des femmes.
