Abstract
Le Comité de sûreté générale est un rouage important du gouvernement révolutionnaire. Chargé de la police et de la sûreté de l’État, le comité adopte, tout au long de son existence, jusqu’au 4 novembre 1795, une organisation intérieure méthodique et réglementée et intègre un personnel politique important, jusqu’à devenir comparable à un véritable ministère de la Police. Second comité de gouvernement, il joue un rôle politique décisif au cours des événements révolutionnaires et acquiert une autorité grandissante en concentrant des fonctions policières importantes et en devenant un collaborateur essentiel auprès des autorités révolutionnaires.
