Abstract
Dès le début du XXe siècle, le paysage canadien joue un rôle de premier plan dans la construction au pays d’un imaginaire yiddish déraciné du monde du shtetl est-européen. Symbole de la liberté nouvelle que les yiddishophones trouvent dans leur pays d’adoption, le territoire, qu’il soit rural ou urbain, participe de la définition d’une identité juive canadienne. Cet article examine l’importance de ce paysage dans le développement d’une littérature yiddish montréalaise. Après avoir proposé un bilan sommaire des œuvres yiddish qui offrent des représentations du paysage canadien, l’auteure met en lumière la vision originale qu’en proposent les écrivains de ce groupe.
