AVALIAÇÃO FUNCIONAL DE IDOSAS COM OSTEOARTRITE DE JOELHO SUBMETIDAS A TRATAMENTO FISIOTERAPÊUTICO

Abstract
Este estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a capacidade funcional de idosas com osteoartrite de joelho submetidas a tratamento fisioterapêutico. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo com delineamento transversal, sendo a amostra constituída por 25 indivíduos com idade igual ou superior a 60 anos, do sexo feminino e residente no município de Jequié (BA). A coleta de dados foi realizada em oito clínicas de fisioterapia do município de Jequié (BA). A intensidade da dor, da rigidez e o grau de funcionalidade foram mensurados pelo questionário Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Index (WOMAC). As correlações entre as variáveis dor e rigidez com a funcionalidade foram calculadas por meio do teste Qui-Quadrado, utilizando o software SPSS versão 15.0®. As variáveis ocupação, escolaridade e idade foram caracterizadas por um questionário sociodemográfico. Houve diferença estatística entre as variáveis dor e capacidade funcional. No entanto não houve significância entre as variáveis idade e funcionalidade, assim como entre as variáveis rigidez e funcionalidade. Nesta perspectiva, concluiu-se que a melhora da funcionalidade no grupo em estudo está diretamente relacionada à redução do quadro álgico.
