Abstract
Cet article vise à rendre compte des trajectoires de l’économie politique du Québec depuis l’élection du gouvernement libéral (2003) en mettant l’accent sur l’évolution du rôle des sociétés d’État à vocation économique. Nous entendons entre autres montrer que la « réingénierie » proposée par les Libéraux avant et durant leurs premières années au pouvoir ne s’est matérialisée que sous la forme d’un compromis, entre transition et continuité. En effet, les rôles de ces sociétés n’ont pas été fondamentalement restreints sous ce gouvernement, mais au contraire multipliés et complexifiés, car l’impératif de rendement et de diversification des actifs s’est rajouté à leurs fonctions sociales et de développement économique. La thèse de cet article est que ce compromis peut être expliqué en partie à la lumière des effets structurants du nationalisme économique, compris dans le sens d’une « identité économique » à laquelle les Québécois demeurent attachés.
