Ces dernières années, nombreuses sont les entreprises qui ont innové en révisant de fond en comble certains de leurs processus opérationnels, à la fois pour les moderniser et pour éliminer les activités qui ne produisaient pas de valeur. On sait toutefois aujourd’hui que ces innovations ne portent véritablement fruit que si, entre autres, les entreprises révisent en parallèle leur structure organisationnelle et leur organisation du travail. Michael Hammer a émis en 1996 quelques idées relativement radicales à ce sujet (prise en charge des processus par des équipes de processus, composées d’employés polyvalents et responsabilisés ; instauration d’un conseil des processus pour coordonner et intégrer les divers processus et les diverses équipes qui les prennent en charge, etc.). Notre texte présente une étude de cas, dans laquelle nous avons cherché à savoir si ces idées de Michael Hammer étaient reprises par les acteurs de terrain, ou bien si celles-ci demeuraient des références plutôt théoriques et utopiques.
