Le texte présente d’abord des données sur la diversification des formes d’emploi et les difficultés que cela implique pour la conciliation emploi-famille. Il expose ensuite les résultats d’une étude de cas dans le secteur policier, un secteur qui illustre bien la diversité des horaires de travail et les défis que cela pose pour les parents. Les extraits d’entrevue issus de l’étude de cas permettent de mieux comprendre le comportement des pères travailleurs en comparaison de celui des mères travailleuses du point de vue de la conciliation, les représentations et valeurs associées au rôle paternel et au rôle maternel, chez les individus, ainsi que les obstacles qui limitent, le cas échéant, la participation des pères aux mesures existantes et qui, de ce fait, ont une incidence sur l’insertion différenciée et l’incertitude subie par les hommes et les femmes sur le marché du travail
