Abstract
Although the main goal of the ency- clical Rerum Novarum(1891) was to establish the correct sense of man's life on earth, and more precisely: the sense of the work, the oc- casion of this doctrinal advice was the political and practical consequences proposed by socia- lists in order to eliminate the property rights and in this way impose a totalitarian social order. So, in order to understand the funda- mental root of this topic, it is necessary to get some perspective of the anthropological foun- dations of the main concepts of the so called political economy, the economic theory deve- loped in the first quarter of the 19 th century, that is part of the language used by this ency- clical.
