Abstract
Cet article met en perspective le réseau muséal québécois au moment où se tenait à Québec en septembre 1992 la xvie conférence générale du Conseil international des musées (Icom) sous le thème « Musées : y a-t-il des limites ? » Il s’agit d’un moment historique qui est marqué par une effervescence sans précédent dans le développement du réseau muséal. Pour la première fois, une série de publications soulignaient l’histoire et le rôle social des musées. Cette xvie conférence de l’Icom a notamment contribué au rayonnement et à la reconnaissance de la muséologie québécoise sur la scène internationale. Les témoignages de deux muséologues, Cyril Simard et René Rivard, servent de trame de fond à ce moment fondateur pour l’histoire des musées.
