Abstract
La posici?n en M?xico de los intelectuales espa?oles exiliados all? despu?s de la Guerra Civil fue m?s precaria y dif?cil de lo que han querido revelar. Como todo exilio pol?tico, el suyo implic? un complejo proceso de adaptaci?n y negociaci?n pol?tica y cultural. Aqu? se investiga este proceso para el caso de Max Aub, cuyo epistolario sirve para ilustrar la importancia para el escritor exiliado de las amistades intelectuales y la lealtad al gobierno anfitri?n. Aunque Aub fue uno de los intelectuales espa?oles mejor integrados en M?xico, la gratitud para con el pa?s anfitri?n y el saberse extranjero le imped?an criticar al r?gimen que lo hab?a acogido tan hospitalariamente.
