Abstract
Em sua autobiografia The Ways of my Grandmothers, a escritora Beverly Hungry Wolf da tribo Blood, pertencente à comunidade Blackfoot, reespacializa o Canadá por meio de um lugar de recuperação e de reconstrução de sua identidade como mulher indígena, distanciada do self cultural pela intervenção da educação católica e da vida urbana. O resgate de um legado feminino na reconstituição histórica do povo Blackfoot, a partir de reminiscências presentes nos depoimentos de várias senhoras que ela denomina suas avós, perfaz o corpus narrativo. Portanto, o espaço autobiográfico de The Ways of my Grandmothers ganha materialidade nas histórias do eu entrelaçadas às histórias contadas por mulheres da nação Blackfoot, intentando legá-las a gerações futuras. O objetivo desse artigo é analisar o material historiográfico trazido pela autora em sua autobiografia à luz de conceitos sobre o tempo e sobre a história e discutir a legitimidade do testemunho oral na reconstrução do passado de um povo marginalizado.
